You know you’re deep into this internet social life shit when you express yourself to others by not ever mentioning certain things or you start to notice that certain people aren’t talking about certain things and you know what that shit means.

This shit gets complicated when you start feeling like you know what certain silences and certain avoidances might mean. You start interpreting non-posts. Lack of comment. Know what I mean?

This isn’t about any specific thing. I just mean to say that this is a crazy little world we’re in when I start not talking about stuff so people know where I’m coming from. And when you avoid certain things, I know where you’re coming from. That’s a strange part of technology. There can be whole novels of information that gets conveyed when your ex no longer ever has a green, red or orange dot next to her name on gchat.

We’re all so good at interpreting the signals that an absence of signals becomes a kind of signal.

God, if we could only articulate how much we know based on shit that isn’t being articulated, you know?
