What does being in love feel like?

Well first you spot someone. And they just REALLY stand out. And the sky, oh it darkens. It darkens fast. And then you see that the someone has seen you too. And then the clouds gather ominously. Then you talk and you smile and you flirt. And then the rain begins.

And then you click with the person.

You really click with the person.

And the sky rages. There is lightning. Bright intense fear-of-god lighting. And thunder that bangs and resounds with overwhelming force. There is a full storm. Lightning and thunder and pouring pouring rain and you don’t know what is happening. The house shakes in the storm and the wind whips and screams and it is beyond the scope of what you thought the weather could do. It rages and rages.

And then there is a break, a let up, it rains still and it rains intensely but it seems more under control. There’s still lightning and there’s still thunder but they’re not right on top of each other. They are intermittent and happening in flashes and you find yourself realizing that you can’t just stay someone who is having a storm happen to them. You need to either be the storm or let it pass. You need to find your own lightning and your own thunder or else you’ll just wait longer and longer for signs of the storm. Because it calms down. The sky clears and the rain stops showing up uninvited. If you haven’t found a way to make the intensity happen internally, apart from the weather, eventually there is no storm. You just find yourself once again looking up at a big clear bright lonely sky, praying for another storm.
